All About Auras

Today we are talking all about auras! As we discussed on Monday, both of us recently got aura readings and it really made us think more about our auras. Obviously, there are mechanisms and techniques that are said to protect your aura such as crystals and sage but we were really interested in our day to day upkeep of our auras.

Before we get into up keeping auras and what we learned, let’s first just get a clear understanding of what an aura is. Merriam-Webster defines aura as, “ a distinctive atmosphere surrounding a given source, a subtle sensory stimulus (such as an aroma), or an energy field that is held to emanate from a living being.” What does that mean for us?

Whether you believe in it, or not, everyone has a aura. Some people are more susceptible to feeling auras than others. This has been recently backed by science name “cognitive empathy.” It is recently discovered that through meditation, our brain’s neuro-receptors become stronger in recognizing and receiving emotions of others.

There are many ways we can keep our aura healthy, and manage stress that others put on our aura when we are open.

Palo Santo/Sage: Both clear our auras. It is important to keep a daily practice of clearing your energy both before the day begins and after the day ends.

Stones to help protect auras: Although we might not want to wear stones daily, some hacks to getting around this is carrying them around in a  purse, leaving them in different spots (such as desks and in cars,) and only wearing them when we know we will be in crowds or around particularly negative energy.  Some of our favorite stones for aura protection are Celestite, Amethyst, and Selenite.

Aura clearing essential oils: This is a great hack for when you are forced to be in a large group or around negative energies. We love slipping some oil in areas such as our wrist or neck. Being a teacher, I also enjoy diffusing oils daily because I never know what kind of energy I’ll be facing daily. Cleansing oils include Lavender Oil, Rosemary Oil, and Frankincense Oil.

Some more aura cleansing tips include taking a walk in the rain, having a daily meditation practice, and lighting some candles ( we like to use archangel St. Michael candles.)

It is important to note that everyone’s aura is open differently. The more practiced one gets, the more one is able to control their aura’s openness.
