Let Go and Let God -My Spiritual Journey

My whole life I’ve felt the need to control every situation, making sure I was doing the right thing to even controlling the people in my life. This past year, I’ve really turned a switch. I don’t know if it’s just getting older and wiser, or me just finally having enough and throwing in the towel to controlling my entire universe.

I’ve spent a lot of time getting to know myself, connecting with God and my higher self. I’ve always been super religious, but I never actually trusted God would be there for me, to catch me when I fell or pick me up when I was down. I felt like it was my responsibility to control everyone and everything. In some aspects, it’s great to be a self motivator and control your own situations, but for me I was going overboard.

After being through some stressful and out of my control situations, I decided to meditate in the middle of the day and told myself, “I’m letting go and letting God.” It was from that point that everything started to come easier and unfold. It didn’t happen right away of course, but I was able to see things clearly without judgment or fear. It was as if I was seeing everything for the first time through rose colored glasses.

Life can be stressful, but it can also be whatever you want it to be, depending on how you view things. When you change your perspective and place things beyond your control in the hands of whoever or whatever you believe in, things start to happen.

If your not religious and you don’t believe in anything, then just believe in yourself and trust the the process and your own journey. Remember that things happen “for you,” not  “to you.”
